Who We Are

Hagaag Academy for leadership and development is a research; training and consulting firm specialized in offering up- to date Practical Solutions on organizational and social development challenges. Registered in Somalia since 2014, and with working experiences in the Eastern and the Horn of Africa regions, Hagaag Academy strives towards innovating sustainable solutions and developing competences within the public, private, and the non-profit sectors. The Hagaag Academy does this through research, consultancy, training, and public awareness forums. At Hagaag Academy we recognize that change is the most constant element in today’s globalized and highly dynamic world. For individuals and institutions to be able to perform better at solving individual, organizational and societal challenges, Hagaag Academy believes that we must devise new, strategic and creative ways of managing change.
To achieve this, Hagaag Academy brings together a network of experienced professionals who have over 35 years of hands-on experiences in the field of applied research, development, strategic management and institutional development and innovative technologies to develop efficient, effective and practical solutions to everyday challenges at home, work and in our communities. Hagaag Academy has national and international linkages with experts and organizations such as ministry of education of Rwanda, RIDA in Kenya, International Academy for development ambassadors. This allows Hagaag Academy to tap into a wide range of experienced expertise to undertake various training assignments.

Our Resource Persons

HAGAAG ACADEMY brings together qualified and experienced researchers, trainers and subject matter experts to undertake all its assignments. HAGAAG ACADEMY assignments are ‘team- facilitated’, offering the client varied and complimentary angles. in any all training sessions. Below is a brief profile of HAGAAG ACADEMY ’s key resource persons:

Mr. Masoud Wehliye

has a Master Degree in Management, an MA in Social work and community development. He has more than 15 years lecturing experiences in different universities including Somali National University and SIMAD. He has extensive consultancy and training experiences in Human Resource Management, Personal Development, Organizational Psychology, Communication Skills and Strategic Planning and Management in public, private and NGO sectors. Mr. Wehliye currently is the Director General of Hagaag Academy for leadership and development.

Mr. Yaqub Muse Abdullahi

has an MBA in Finance and Banking, MA in project planning & management, postgraduate diploma in project monitoring and evaluations, as well as BCOM in Accounting and Business Administration. Mr. Yaqub has extensive participatory development experience working with communities, CSOs, NGOs, UN & Donors such as FAO funded projects. Mr. Yaqub is an experienced researcher, author and lecturer. He has lectured at a number of universities in Uganda and Somalia in Accounting, Finance and Management and research methodologies for over 15 years. He has undertaken a number of scholarly research, supervised research projects, and participated in development of business education (accounting) curriculum and attended numerous conferences in Kenya and Rwanda. Mr. Yaqub is computer practicality with PGD IT(Sikkim Manipal, India).

Mr Sultan Amri

is currently working as a senior training and consultant expert. He has a plenty of experience in area of training, consultation and research and has presented many programs in different parts of the world including Dubai, Kenya, Uganda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Djibouti, Congo DRC, Rwanda. Now he is one of key experts in Hagaag Academy for leadership and development

Mr. Mursal Hashi Shirwac

holds an MBA. Mr. Shirwa is a governance, programme management and institutional development specialist with hands on experience spanning over 35 years in three countries in East and the Horn of Africa and European. He has extensive participatory development experience working with communities, CSOs, NGOs, UN & Donors Somalia. He has undertaken consultancy and training assignments in diverse fields such as Education, Food & Nutrition Security, NRM, Enterprise Development, Healthcare, Water and Sanitation, Lobby & Advocacy, and Conflict Management.


Dr. Abdulkadir Jeilani Mohamoud

has a double PhD of information communication technology (ICT) and high diploma of education. Dr. Abdulkadir conducted several research projects and training programs. Dr. Abdulkadir currently teaches ICT course at postgraduate level. His teaching expertise is courses such as ICT Project Management, Information Security Management, Embedded System, Advanced Java, Database Management System, ICT entrepreneurship, Operations and physical security, ICT strategic planning, Cryptographic and network security, Project Management Leadership, Research methodology, mathematical modelling, quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. On the research side, his research profile consists of more than 18 articles some of them published in peer reviewed journals and he is editor and reviewer. On the project side, he has managed a project called upgrading of server rooms for custom automation systems in Somalia and other several projects related software and hardware. Ahmed-Nor Mohamed Abdi

has Masters of Public Administration (specializing local government and development), Faculty Management Studies, Mbale-Uganda. Mr. Ahmed-Nor is a lecturer on Strategic Management and a researcher on competence-based education. Mr. Ahmed-Nor is interested in exploring the critical link between education, strategy, entrepreneurship and empowerment, especially of marginalized groups. He has undertaken a number of scholarly research, consultancy and training assignments in competitive strategies, competence- based education, strategic plans and development of organizational systems and procedures.

Dr. Waris mohamed adam

has a MSc in Obstetric and gynecologist Kampala International University (KIU). She is an experienced Obstetric and gynecologist for more than 5 years at Marwa Fertility Center and public hospitals, including Benadir for Mother and Children in Mogadishu, Somalia. Drs. Waris has co-authored a number of research papers and lectured in number of universities. Her areas of interests include women and child development, academic and corporate research and training.

Looking Ahead

HAGAAG ACADEMY is in the process of establishing a specialized center for developing practical approaches to individual, organizational and societal challenges. This hub will offer opportunity to researchers, students and industry novices to exchange ideas, innovate solutions to societal challenges. This center will incorporate innovative IT/web-based, online learning with face-to-face opportunities to interact with industry’s finest. An outreach program that seeks to establish collaboration with institutions of higher learning in the Eastern and the Horn of Africa is currently being designed. This outreach program will initially be covering South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi and Djibouti.
